Notes on Translation
The electronic translation service on the York Region District School Board's website is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation will vary in some of the languages offered by Google. Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages, although an impressive number, this does not capture all languages or dialects. The basic translation’s goal is to capture the general intention of the original English material.
The York Region District School Board does not guarantee the quality, accuracy or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the Board encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and affect any decisions you may make.
The York Region District School Board is committed to parent, family and community engagement, and it is our hope that by providing this tool on our website that we are making our information more accessible to families whose first language is not English and thereby enabling better engagement in public education.

Physical Education Department

Page Content This department focuses on the complete health and well-being of
students at Bill Hogarth SS, valuing both physical and mental wellness. A
great deal of research has shown the positive link between physical activity,
emotional well-being, and academic success. Participation in regular exercise
significantly increases concentration, builds self-confidence, improves mood,
and promotes strong character. It is our goal to foster an understanding
of the importance of physical activity and how it contributes to physical,
social, emotional, and intellectual well-being. It is also our aim to
create an environment in which every student feels safe and engaged, regardless
of their ability and experience level. The Phys. Ed. space features a
state-of-the-art, four-section gymnasium, a dance studio, a fully-equipped
fitness room, and a 400-metre track around a large-sized playing field. All of these are used within HPE courses
as students take part in a variety of cooperative games, sports,
fitness-related activities and clubs.
Although our school is only in its first year our Athletic Program
already features Tennis, Cross-Country, Cricket, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball
and Curling teams, with Badminton, Table Tennis, Girl's Flag Football,
Baseball, Slo-pitch, and Track and Field teams upcoming this year. We
also hope to add Swim and Hockey teams for next school year.
